Mary Mullan is a filmmaker. She studied film at the National Film School in Ireland (IADT). She graduated with a distinction in her Diploma, and went on to specialise in Direction in her Degree year. Her graduate film, Tongue, won the UK Fuji Scholarship award based on the screenplay and the final film won best art direction and sound in competition with 35 colleges throughout the UK.

 

She went on to win an Irish Film Board/RTE Short Cuts award for her film Homeboy, which she directed. All three of her short films have been shown on television and at festivals worldwide and won prizes.

 

She studied a masters in screenwriting at the London College of Communications and worked in media production in London for a number of years before returning to Ireland. She also works in visual effects as a compositor. Recent credits include Interstellar, Jupiter Ascending, The Martian and The Legend of Tarzan.
